BODEGA for SAUCONY ELITE (JAPAN) – SAUCONY SHADOW 5000 // SATURDAY (09.18) RELEASE
The Bodega bols came through with an unbelievable Shadow 5000 running shoe for Saucony Elite Japan accounts primarily. we are blessed to be one of the select US retailers to stock a couple of the solid upper colorways for release THIS SATURDAY (09.18). Super limited quantities worldwide, and therefore, very limited quantities/sizes will be available on Saturday, but make your way down to the shop and check these out in person if you are up on your running/trainers game (like I am). You won’t be sorry. KICKS/HI opens at 1100A on Saturday.

NUMBER (N)INE (JAPAN) for CONVERSE FIRST STRING – ODESSA //SATURDAY (09.18) RELEASE:
ALL HAIL THE RETURN OF ACTUAL LIMITED EDITION SHOES! One of Japan’s premier, progressive fashion labels established by Japanese designer Takahiro Miyashita, NUMBER (N)INE, continues their final vision of the designer under the NUMBER (N)INE name-as they closed earlier this year. So this re-envisioned ’80s running shoe called the “Odessa” almost did not get to see its second coming, but somehow everything worked itself out and now KICKS/HI will be one of a couple of select US boutiques to feature this deconstructed, premium deerskin upper shoes with the asymmetrical lacing system. Only 48 pairs of each colors were produced for US distribution. So yes, this is the real deal. First come, first served. No holds or discounts on release product. Product limited to stock on hand. In store purchases only until Monday (09.20) when we will accept phone orders on remaining pairs – 808.941.9191.
NIKE SB – SEPTEMBER QUICKSTRIKE – “STREET FIGHER” PACK: DUNK LOW (CHUN LI), DUNK MID (RYU) & P.ROD 4 HIGH (AKUMA) // SATURDAY (09.18) RELEASE:
By now, I’m sure every blog that has featured this “Street Fighter” inspired SB Quickstrike pack has made every witty Street Fighter reference possible so I will fall back from doing so. I would have personally liked to see each shoe packaged with an item relevant to each character – such as: a red, cloth headband for Ryu or if they made a shoe for Blanka it would come with cut off, tattered shorts and a button on the shoe that would send out an electric shock field when you pressed it…you know? Simple stuff like that. As with all Quickstrike product, these shoes are limited in nature so we do not have many pairs or even multiple sizes of certain ones so plan your visit to the shop accordingly. The shoes will be available for purchase in store ONLY with no phone orders. Sorry, if you ‘re not in Hawaii, you need to find an SB retailer in your area who is stocked with these.
BLACK SCALE – FALL/HOLIDAY 2010:
Don’t ask me to explain the graphics, but frankly, I don’t understand most of them, but I think that’s where I start to love the brand because its not literal. When’s the last time you actually pondered the graphics on a t-shirt? Exactly. Black Scale. Partake.

NIKE BASKETBALL ZOOM KOBE V:
Something about this new Kobe V colorway that got me open like a Blackmoon remix. It has this feel of a shoe that might have dropped in the mid ’90s in the best way possible. Like I want to pretty much wear it with all my ‘lo gear and call it a day. “I went from Helly Hansen to mini mansions” type flavor. You feel me? I’m so about it that I’m gonna pick up two pairs – one to hoop in and one to wear to the club. 3/4 court bounce pass and then dance with 3 or 4 ladies who can bounce…you know what I mean.

NIKE AINA CHUKKA:
I just did the remix to the hook for “Beamer Benz Bentley” by replacing it with “Nike Aina Chukka”. It goes a little something like “Nike Aina Chukka. Hard in the paint. Waka Flaka.” This Aina Chukka stepped out of its all suede everything comfort zone a little here by involving a really soft anthracite toe box + tongue. Striking at first – only because we’ve become to used to seeing the shoe all suede. I am a sucker for raw, leather laces so this shoe always piques my interest. This is a good look with some cuffed up chinos and a white tee and a Goro necklace piece.

NIKE AIR ROYAL:
Man, Nike is REALLY trying to push this Air Royal silhouette. Just because it checks well in Europe – that does not necessarily translate into popularity in the US, but WAIT, the shoe is actually super nice. I said the same the first time this was released a year or two ago as a Quickstrike. Its either: A) Nike really wants this shoe to catch on so they can do it up in a zillion colors and materials and dead it for the next 8 years or B) it didn’t sell well the first go ’round so “out of sight, out of mind” and here is the brand new Air Royal from Nike (cue cheering crowd). I’m not sure which it is, but all jokes aside, this shoe is very relevant now with its workman inspired styling. I thoroughly applaud the hex-eyelets and the hiking laces. Its a fly guy workboot; minus the breaking it in period of 8 months.

SIX POINTS (CHICAGO) – DALEK ARTIST RECEPTION // SATURDAY (09.18) – 600P-1000P – 1529 N MILWAUKE AVE:
The artist series at Six Points (a rotating concept shop – partnered by Saint Alfred x Nike – located next door to the Saint Alfred door in Chicago) continues with the opening reception for the famed artist DALEK tomorrow night from 600P-1000P. Definitely check that out if you’re in the Chicago area because there will be all kinds of cool stuff that I can’t talk about that’s going to happen so yeah, just go.

A DAY IN THE LIFE(STYLE):
One of our favorite part-timers slash philosophizer slash music fiend slash skate rat slash unassuming model, B.Chun, popped through the shop the other day with this wacky contraption, which is pretty much a Sony mini boombox (pretty much all highs, no bass) with an AUX out into his i-pod. Here’s where it gets awesome, the tape deck is busted so he figured out to pop open the deck and cradle the i-pod in the deck. He came into the shop bumping an old beatnuts track. I gave him two high fives for being so rad. No bromo.
