|x| What’s good, fam! A slew of good shoes arrived this week to get it in before summer winds to an end. How was all y’alls summers tho? <- Wow, that was some horrible grammar right there. I really dislike myself when my twitter voice crosses over into my e-mails or this newsletter. Its shameful. Especially when I catch myself telling an art director at a big corporate entity: "Yeah fam, this jumpoff is gonna be sooo tite!" Meh. Haha.
NIKE QUICKSTRIKE: AF1 VAC TECH PREMIUM - SATURDAY (8/6) RELEASE:
I’m not sure if you’re quite grasping what you’re seeing here, but let me just say that this AF1 is so fresh, so clean. This Vac Tech technology is a hybrid of Foamposite & the classic AF1 body, which results in a seamless silhouette with the panels and check that look embossed. I have never not liked white on white AF1s, and this Premium offering only builds upon that legacy. As a quickstrike, this AF1 Vac Tech Premium will be available in Hawaii exvlusively at KICKS/HI tomorrow, Saturday (8/6).

NIKE RUNNING – AUGUST ’11:
Air Max Tailwind. The resurgence in Nike Running has really been one of the biggest stories in the sneaker world this year. They can almost do no wrong so far. I mean, never say never, but for now, they are super G in my book. I haven’t had this kind of interest in new Nike silhouettes since the first 13 Jordans and the OG ACG program. I feel like lots of these new running models will one day be benchmark retros down the line. I’m looking at you especially: Free Run 2.

This Lunarglide 3+ is dressed like its gonna rob a bank or something. Triple black. All black, everything. No matter how you call it – this shoe is murdered out, and it boy does it look good!

NIKE SB – P.ROD V:
P.Rod V, fam! I have been waiting for this shoe. For real. Lunarlon midsole for extreme comfort. I am very partial to the Kobe V, and this like a version of that shoe which takes more cues from the skateboarding world. I personally would enjoy a round, hiking lace as an option to the standard flat lace, but other than me being picky, this shoe is super legit. This is one of those shoes that also looks a whole lot different when you have it on your feet, and by “a whole lot different” I meant “impressive”. Get yours.

JOHN VARVATOS for CONVERSE:
John Varvatos manages to consistently mix a high fashion sensibility with a street/rock’n'roll execution. Without trying to further confuse you, and myself, with weak descriptions of JV designs, I’ll just stick to the script and give you the rundown on the shoes straight up. I get sidetracked sometimes. This JV Star Player Ox features that soft, supple, oiled leather that Varvatos tends to lean towards in his leather treatments. It also has that signature JV distressed midsole that people love to try and clean when they pick up the shoe off the shelf. Its on that “instant vintage” steez…
JV Pro Leather Mid in a dope military olive suede upper with a cup sole. SUPER BANGIN’. This with any color denim wash, khaki chinos, or shorts is a wrap. So good.
Chuck Taylors are one of the only, if not THE only shoe that continues to feel new even though it was first released like 600 years ago. Flat and spiked studs decorate the upper, distressed midsole treatment, and leather laces make for an excellent departure from the OG canvas Chucks, but still keep it one hunnit with its DNA. Its like your cousin that grew up listening to The Misfits and Black Flag, but still could do a nollie hardflip and would watch football with you and your uncles on Sundays. Ok, someone keep me far away from these analogies. I am murdering them today…not in a good way. “Who are The Misfits anyway?” Haha, Ugh.
See that zipper that runs parallel with the eyelets? Well there is another one on the opposite side of the shoe – making this Chuck Taylor Double Zipper High a very styled out shoe. Premium, black leather upper with leather laces alone make this a top shotta, and I appreciate that they went with the classic line break in the midsole (not the all white midsole, or the higher line break).

CONVERSE MENS:
Tbe Converse Chuck Taylor HR Premium Low is another shoe that would look great with almost any type of denim, chino, or shorts. That burgandy/maroon is just the right tone without it looking too brick. I thoroughly love the contrast leather piping and the leather laces. The all white midsole (no line break) always gives Chucks such a different look. This shoe is a premium so expect all the materials and construction to be top notch.
This Converse Chuck Taylor Premium High is a beautiful companion to the above pictured low. Soft, premium leather upper with contrast caramel, leather spine and tongue. I am always drawn to leather laces on Chucks. It just looks so dope.

HUF – SUMMER ’11 FOOTWEAR:
The HUF Morton is a cool, uncomplicated skate shoe. Sude upper. No extra padding or technology. Its as straightforward as a skate shoe can be. I like this one for that.
Another super clean, no-frills vulcanized shoe from HUF. The round laces and gumsole on this Milwauke are doing it for me. Good stuff.
The Hufnagel Pro is HUF’s signature pro model shoe. I just saw Keith this past week at Agenda and he said its the only shoe he’s been skating in out of all the HUF shoes. Its a cupsole and really lightweight. Looks good on your feet too. All around winner.
