CONVERSE FIRST STRING – DR.J PRO LEATHER (HORWEEN LEATHER) / SATURDAY (9/10) RELEASE:
“One of the oldest tanneries in the United States – Horween is widely known for its production of fine leathers. For this special release, Converse borrows Horween’s Chromexcel® leather and the results are ultra-luxurious versions of the Pro Leather shoe that looks clean and understated. The Converse Dr. J First String Standard will feature the words “Dr. J” subtly embossed in gold foil on the outer. Converse First String is a limited-edition collection that celebrates craftsmanship, authenticity and collaboration at the highest level. Only 360 pairs of each of the Horween leather versions will be available in the US.” (via Converse First String).
To follow up the explanation of the shoe from the Converse First String team, this shoe is an updated take on the OG Pro Leather silhouette. It is sleeker in its body and is exponentially more comfortable. I have some of the original Pro Leather silhouettes and they just read a little too bulky, which translates to: not sexy, playboy. But this 2011 Pro Leather has all the makings of a facelift that doesn’t make the shoe look like its face got reconstructed by a blind, plastic surgeon with epilepsy. Its comfortable, looks amazing with either shorts or pants, comes with 4!! different lace options (2 square cut leather colors and 2 waxed, flat colors), and is branded with the “DR.J” stamp, which speaks volumes upon volumes on the cool x style factor this shoe exudes. Dr.J is like the father to Jordan’s style: the finesse jumpers, the fancy yet powerful dunks, the dunking ON people, and that winning, playmaker quality that comes around say, once every decade or so…
