092011: NIKE QUICKSTRIKE DUNK HI AC RELEASE (SAT 9/24) + NEW ARRIVALS + KICKS/HI & STUSSY BBQ FUN RE-CAP!

A DAY IN THE LIFESTYLE – DJ NEIL ARMSTRONG:
Thought I would bookend this particular newsletter with some lifestyle photos. Can’t be looking at shoes and gear all the time, right? We ran into the big homie Neil somewheres in NY recently, and lo and behold, he was rocking a lil sumthin’ sumthin’ from the shop. Salute to one of the best DJs on the planet, and also one of the nicest people in general. We see you, fam! Salute x shakas!
NIKE QUICKSTRIKE – NIKE DUNK HI AC – SATURDAY (9/24) RELEASE:
To be honest, Nike Quickstrike hasn’t been more miss than hit recently, but these two premium leather Dunk Hi AC’s and last month’s outstanding Air Trainer 2 SC Highs have made up some of the momentum the QS program might have lost this year so far. These Dunk Hi AC’s are really dope. They feature: a tite, vulcanized sole, a premium leather upper, leather inner lining, and a thin tongue (like when Nike was going stupid, ride the yellow bus, dumb hyphy with all those one piece Dunk Hi’s like 5 or 6 years back). There is a mustard/light caramel upper or black upper offering. Both colorways will be available in the shop this Saturday (9/24).

NIKE SB – OCTOBER ’11 RELEASES:
Brand new black/white Kostons. Game over. Word to Lil Flip (a reference to the rapper’s song “Game Over”, not a slight at small Filipinos).
I didn’t think much of this Dunk Mid SB until I looked at it more, and then I tried it on, and what do you know?! Winner, winner chicken dinner! The red is muted, but the black and grey in the mix makes this colorway very Jordan-esque, which just looks so proper with: denim, khaki, military green, etc. Throw a color in there, and it will match, more often than not.
More new SBs (left to right): Vulc Rod, Janoski Mid (Midnight Fog grey) & Blazer Mid.

NIKE AM90 GR:
New GR Nike AM90. Nothing super special here other than a REALLY strong colorway; PLUS, its a suede and MESH upper, which just speaks to being worn all day, err’day easily. Now available in the shop or via phone order: 808.941.9191.
NIKE KOBE VI:
New Kobe VI in a Purple/Del Sol colorway. This shoe dropped just in time to honor “Metta World Peace”. How did they synchronize their Swatches to do that?!

VANS OFF THE WALL (OTW) – BEDFORD by ERIC ELMS:
If you like HUGE Maagzine, Nike, Stussy, Supreme (to name a few), then you have for certain seen the visual artistry of artist/designer Eric Elms. He is one of this season’s selected artists for Vans Off the Wall advocates. This slim-profile midtop Bedford features black Waxed Canvas from The British Millerain Co., waxed cotton laces, tonal branding, and other elements which contribute to its modern design appeal. Let’s also not forget the red outsole. An all-in-all solid execution…that waxed canvas upper is too fresh! This Eric Elms Bedford is only sold at a handful of select OTW accounts nationwide.

WOMENS – KEDS FALL ’11 RELEASES:
Ladies, brand new Keds now in the ze building just for y’all. The leather on this Champion silhouette is super supple. The light grey outsole is a good touch too.
Canvas Champions in: white, khaki & red (left to right). No brainer awesomeness.
Laceless Champion “Slither” pack. This execution is TOP NOTCH. This is the type of shoe all the stylish ladies cue in on when they are in the shop. Its happened 100% of the time since these have been out on the shelf; therefore, its a scientific proven fact.

BOOKMAN LIGHTS:
The amount of kids that shop with us that ride bikes (fixed gear, BMX, cruiser, mountain bike, etc.) is astounding. When our friend Jarah approached us about this new line of cool bike lights, then it made total sense to start stocking them. Especially when their stocklist reads more like a high end street line (Colette, Reed Space, American Rag, amongst other top bike shops). Affix to your grips or seat post with an elastic cord. The lights are super strong, full range LEDs, and come with a front and tail light with slow, fast or steady flash options. The buttons are large, and the undersides of the box design are curved to fit on cylindrical surfaces. The first collection of colors includes: Lemon Yellow, Goblin Green, Heavenly Blue and Pitch Black.

STUSSY x KICKS/HI BBQ RECAP:
The weekend of our awesome Parra for Stussy x KICKS/HI launch, we also teamed up with the Stussy Tribe to put together a little friends and family bbq at a secret beach house location on the oceans edge of Diamond Head. It was a day to evening event filled with music by DJ SSSolution, bbqs, rooftop pool bombs courtesy of G-Hard, MG, E.Haus and other daredevils, Pineapple Dude photo-ops, and just a ton of laughs, friends and family on an epic Sunday funday!
